Location: Suffolk (Hybrid working)
Permanent | Competitive salary + bonus & excellent benefits.
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000
Join one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure projects - set to power 6 million homes and play a crucial role in achieving the nation’s net zero targets. We're looking for a CDM Lead (Assurance) with a sharp focus on design risk management to drive safety excellence throughout the project lifecycle.
About the Role:
As CDM Lead (Assurance), you will take a proactive leadership role in ensuring compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, with particular emphasis on managing and assuring design-related health and safety risks. You’ll play a pivotal part in influencing design strategy and decision-making to ensure foreseeable risks are identified, eliminated, or mitigated early—before they reach the construction phase.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead assurance activities with a specific focus on design risk management and CDM 2015 compliance.
* Evaluate and challenge design safety principles and decisions to ensure risks are appropriately managed.
* Review contractor and designer CDM documentation and advise on improvements.
* Provide expert guidance on CDM duties, particularly those of designers and principal designers.
* Engage with project teams and stakeholders to embed a positive safety-by-design culture.
* Monitor safety performance and compliance through audits, inspections, and structured reporting.
What You'll Bring:
* NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or equivalent)
* Chartered or working towards (e.g. CMIOSH, CMaPS)
* In-depth knowledge of CDM 2015, particularly design-stage risk management and assurance practices
* Proven experience influencing design safety in complex, high-risk projects
* Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
* Experience in nuclear, energy, or other major infrastructure projects (highly desirable)
You’ll be at the heart of a transformational UK project, where safety, innovation, and sustainability are critical. This role offers the chance to shape how design risk is managed at a national scale—making a real and lasting impact on people, processes, and infrastructure.
Join and make a real impact on the future of sustainable energy in the UK.
