Our client is a class manufacturer of butt weld fittings, specialising in Duplex, Super Duplex, nickel alloys and stainless steel. They are currently looking for a Machine Operator Job Purpose: To operate and maintain hydraulic/mechanical press machines used in the forming of steel pipes for the oil and gas sector. The role involves ensuring safe, efficient, and accurate operation of machinery to meet production targets and quality standards. Key Responsibilities: Operate press machines to shape and form steel pipe components according to specifications. Set up machines with correct tooling, dies, and materials for each production run. Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain product quality and dimensional accuracy. Inspect finished products for defects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements. Read and interpret technical drawings, work orders, and production schedules. Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on press machinery. Record production data and report any issues or downtime to the supervisor. Follow all health and safety procedures, including the use of PPE and safe handling of heavy materials. Work collaboratively with team members to meet daily production targets and continuous improvement goals. Skills & Experience: Previous experience operating press machines or working in a heavy manufacturing environment is preferred. Understanding of metal forming processes and mechanical systems. Ability to read engineering drawings and use measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers). Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Physically fit and capable of manual handling in a hot, noisy, and industrial environment. Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Willingness to work shifts, including nights and weekends if required. Working Conditions: Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, and heavy machinery. Standing for long periods and handling large steel components. PPE must be worn at all times (e.g., safety boots, gloves, eye protection).
