Job Description:
MCS Group is delighted to be working with a large public sector employer in County Antrim to find an Environmental Health Officer. This role offers a 4-day working week, a competitive salary, and the potential for a longer contract. Location: Ballymena. Contract Length: 9 months with a likelihood of extension. Salary: £38.5k (pro-rata).
The Role:
1. Conduct inspections, investigations, assessments, and activities across various environmental health functions, including public health, food safety, and housing.
2. Take enforcement actions in line with legislation and guidance, including serving statutory notices and preparing legal proceedings.
3. Act as an expert witness and provide advice and reports for legal, planning, and public health matters.
4. Collaborate with external agencies, businesses, and working groups to support environmental health goals and service improvements.
5. Contribute to planning reviews, public consultations, health campaigns, and reactive monitoring, including out-of-hours response.
6. Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation, support training initiatives, and perform administrative duties.
The Person:
* Minimum of a degree in Environmental Health or equivalent experience.
* Membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
* At least 1 year experience in a public sector role.
* Knowledge of current environmental health legislation.
* Stakeholder engagement skills.
* Full and current driver’s license and access to transport.
