Booth Welsh are working with a global manufacturing business to find a Plater for their Glasgow Operations Centre.
What You’ll Be Doing
Working as part of an experienced fabrication team, you’ll support the full manufacturing process for a range of bespoke pump products. Your work will directly contribute to the quality, reliability, and performance the company is known for.
Key responsibilities include:
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, identifying parts, and fabricating them to specification.
Preparing steel and metal sections ranging from 5mm to over 100mm thickness.
Operating heavy-duty guillotines, rollers, presses, and oxy-acetylene cutters to form complex shapes and sections.
Welding or bolting components to complete assemblies.
Working with both heavy plate and thin sheet metal using saws, cutters, presses, and rollers.
Measuring, marking out, cutting, shaping, drilling, and edge-prepping materials.
Operating CNC and manual machinery, band saws, and drilling machines.
Supporting pipework fabrication for pump testing.
Maintaining accurate material identification and traceability.
Keeping a clean, safe, high-standard work environment with strong housekeeping and safety practices.
Supporting welding activities and other production tasks when required. Training will be provided.

What You’ll Bring
Time-served background in fabrication/plating with ideally up to 3 years’ experience in heavy manufacturing.
A solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
Strong communication skills and a team mindset.
High energy, adaptability, and willingness to support change and improvement.
A commitment to safety, quality, and delivering excellent workmanship.You must have the legal right to work in the UK.
