We have an exciting new role for a SEMH Primary Teaching Assistant
Join a specialist primary unit for EYFS and KS1 pupils with SEMH, working in a caring and pupil-focused school, starting ASAP. This is a fantastic long-term opportunity for passionate individuals dedicated to supporting pupils with SEMH.
The school recently opened a warm and nurturing unit to support young pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Needs. The lessons are designed to be warm and nurturing, providing a safe environment for learning. The unit has 5 pupils and a staff team of 4 dedicated to improving and developing their mental health.
What You’ll Be Doing:
* Working closely with the classroom teacher to deliver engaging and inclusive lessons.
* Supporting young people who may act impulsively, struggle to read social cues, or understand how their behavior affects others.
* Providing one-to-one and small group support for children.
* Creating a nurturing and safe environment for emotional, social, and academic growth.
* Supporting classroom routines, managing behavior positively, and encouraging a love of learning through indoor and outdoor activities.
* Participating in school events and activities that promote holistic development.
What We’re Looking For:
* A genuine love for working with young children, especially in EYFS or KS1.
* A passion for supporting children with SEMH.
* Patience, empathy, and a warm, positive attitude.
* A basic understanding of EYFS or KS1.
* Relevant qualifications or motivation to work towards them (we can assist with this!).
