Reeson Education is looking for a compassionate, dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the OL9 area this September. This is a full-time, long-term Teaching Assistant role working 1:1 with a delightful Key Stage 2 pupil with autism who is non-verbal.
This is not a behavioural support role - the pupil is calm and pleasant, but they need a Teaching Assistant who can nurture communication skills, encourage social development, and adapt learning in a way that makes sense to them. The Teaching Assistant will support learning outside the classroom for part of the day, gradually encouraging integration into the main class where possible.
Teaching Assistant - Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide 1:1 support to a KS2 pupil with ASD who is non-verbal
2. Work with the class team to develop communication strategies and learning tasks
3. Support the pupil's emotional and social progress throughout the day
4. Help ease transitions from a quieter, personalised space into the classroom
5. Maintain a calm, structured, and positive learning environment
6. Adapt teaching resources under guidance from the class teacher and SENDCO
Teaching Assistant - The Ideal Candidate:
7. Prior experience as a Teaching Assistant supporting pupils with autism
8. Comfortable using visual aids, sensory strategies, or alternative communication methods
9. A patient, empathetic and consistent approach to support
10. Someone who can build trust and connection over time
11. Flexible, team-oriented and keen to help a young learner thrive
Why apply for this Teaching Assistant role?
12. Opportunity to work in a well-supported, nurturing school environment
13. Long-term, stable Teaching Assistant position with real impact
14. Lovely pupil with no extreme behaviour - just in need of guidance and encouragement
15. Friendly staff team and fantastic facilities for SEND support
16. Clear routine, hours, and expectations
If you're a caring and capable Teaching Assistant who believes in building confidence and communication through consistency and kindness, this role is for you.
