Position: Credit Controller Location: Glasgow Job Type: Full time, Permanent, Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours Salary: £27,500 per annum benefits Benefits: 28 days annual leave increasing with length of service, plus 4 public holidays, private pension, healthcare cash plan, onsite parking, staff discounts and more! Purpose of Role: An exciting new opportunity has arisen within Matthew Algie to apply for the role of Credit Controller, based in Glasgow on a full-time permanent basis. In your new role, you will ensure that all debts are paid in a timely manner in order to meet the debtor days target set out by the company. You will chase overdue debt by telephone, letter & email within the agreed timescales. Key Responsibilities: • Ensure customers make payment within the agreed payment terms • Reviewing orders on hold, customer a/c queries and complaints in a courteous manner • Checking, approving, or rejecting new account applications as per company procedures • Ensuring monthly statements, first letters and final demands are printed, checked, and sent out within the agreed timescale • Setting accounts up for direct debit and running the direct debits monthly on the dates set by management • Dealing with customers professionally by phone, letter, and email. Taking card payments over the phone daily • Passing accounts for Legal Action • Maintain accurate records for all chasing activity • Assisting with the month end reports Experience: To be considered for this position, it is essential that you have demonstrable experience in a similar Credit Control role in a fast-paced office environment, supporting high-volume collections and monitoring bad debt. You will have experience in dealing with difficult conversations with customers, such as clients who have gone into administration. You'll be skilled at finding solutions that are acceptable to both the Company and the customer, where possible. Skills / Knowledge: • Excellent communications skills at all levels both written and verbal • Good keyboard skills and competence of Word, Excel, and Outlook • High standard of numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail • Strong organisational and time management skills • Ability to recognise potential risks to the firm that should be escalated • A proven track record in achieving credit control collection targets • Confident call handler • Knowledge of Credit Law Personal Attributes • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment • Ability to be flexible to meet the needs of the business • Ability to work independently to own initiative and as part of a team • A strong work ethic • Good motivation and enthusiasm • Ability to work with confidential information in a discreet manner Application If this sounds like you, then you could be the right fit for us!
