Job Title: Experienced Buyer at Dover Precision Components
Join Dover Precision Components as an experienced Buyer and become a key member of our supply chain management team at our main European manufacturing facility in Polmadie, Glasgow. You will be responsible for ensuring the continuous supply of direct and indirect materials, as well as specialist subcontract services, to support all departments in the timely production of our mechanical, engineered bearings, and seals. You will also consider the total cost of ownership and inventory turns to support the company's cash flow.
What You Will Bring
* Relevant qualification such as HND, CIPS Level 3, or a minimum of 2 years related experience in purchasing or materials planning
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; ability to make timely, effective, fact-based decisions
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to perform and produce results in multifunctional teams in a dynamic environment
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
* Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships and influence across organizational lines
* Experience in an engineering background (desirable)
* Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, MS Project, etc.)
* Knowledge of supplier performance management practices, including scorecards and metrics
What You Will Do
* Manage ERP requirements and Kanban levels for assigned commodities, generating and adjusting purchase and subcontract orders to support production schedules
* Maintain and adjust transaction records to ensure system accuracy
* Measure and communicate supplier performance to support continuous improvement, interfacing with Suppliers, Quality, Strategic Sourcing, and Engineering to resolve issues
* Apply purchasing policies, procedures, and processes consistently
* Conduct minor contract negotiations and gather information for larger contracts
* Manage legal and compliance documents within storage systems
* Identify and take corrective actions to prevent shortages, expedite materials, and provide accurate status updates
* Enhance inventory turns, reduce cycle times, and improve Customer OTD through pull-based replenishment processes like Kanban, vendor-managed inventory, and consignments
* Manage invoice queues and collaborate with suppliers to resolve overdue invoices
