Role Overview
Perform work including activities which are non‑routine. Assist with electrical, building services and grounds maintenance within the hospital environment, including plantrooms and ward areas, completing planned preventative maintenance and defect dockets. There will be a small amount of assistance with installation works with all trades as necessary, as well as PAT testing.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake maintenance, repairs, minor improvement and capital work across the Trust and its contracted customers as directed by management, ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and procedures.
* Work in accordance with the requirements of the Trust for assisting trade staff and carrying out low‑grade mechanical, electrical and building tasks.
* Be prepared to work in hazardous areas, taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment.
* Ensure that all work is carried out in a safe manner, following the appropriate risk assessment at all times.
* Work overtime to carry out reactive and pre‑planned maintenance as required by management (subject to availability).
* Attend training courses as required to maintain the ability to carry out the role.
* Provide training, technical advice and support to new Maintenance Assistants.
* Use all relevant tools and equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for completion of works.
* Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade.
Location
The role will be principally based at the Trust site in Winchester. Depending on service needs, it may also be required to work at other Trust site locations, including Andover and Basingstoke.
