Your role will be part of the Adult Social Care & Health team, working to improve outcomes for adults with learning disabilities and other needs.
The successful applicant must speak English to an appropriate standard and will be required to obtain an Enhanced DBS Check. If you have lived overseas in the last five years you may need to apply for an overseas criminal records check. The council does not provide visa sponsorship.
Your Responsibilities
* Varied caseload: Work with individuals with learning disabilities living in a variety of settings, including times of change. Develop knowledge and skills across multiple areas.
* Assessing, protecting, and representing in court: Assess needs under the Care Act, ensure safety through safeguarding, and evaluate capacity. Represent and advocate for people in court.
* Teamwork for independence and life opportunities: Collaborate with the person, families, MDT, and management to create strategies that promote independence and life opportunities. Plan, coordinate resources, and work together to achieve positive outcomes.
What You’ll Need
* Recognised social work qualification.
* Registration with Social Work England (student social workers to apply once qualification granted).
* Passion for, and ideally relevant experience of, working with people with learning disabilities.
* Commitment to producing high‑quality assessments and collaborating with various agencies.
* Knowledge of key legislation, local and national policy issues, equal opportunities and anti‑oppressive practice.
