Key Responsibilities:

* Work within competency and confidence levels, follow national and local guidance, and seek guidance from PN, ACP or GP when needed while accurately documenting events of the consultation in the patient’s clinical notes in a timely manner.
* Perform urinalysis and preparation of specimens for pathology lab investigations.
* Conduct NHS health checks, ECGs and appropriately escalated for review to GP as per guidance.
* Phlebotomy: measure blood pressure, pulse rate and rhythm, respiratory rate, temperature, height and weight, waist circumference and BMI.
* Carry out diabetic foot check and chaperoning duties.
* Undertake simple wound care as per company guidelines; recognise non‑responding wounds, seek advice, provide care for uncomplicated wounds, apply a range of dressings under the direction of a registered nurse, assess pain level and advise patients on general health care and disease prevention opportunistically.
* Perform equipment checks and maintain consulting rooms, restock, maintain Taurus stock levels, and report to Operations Manager or Lead Practice Nurse.
* Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, assist GPs during minor operations, record fridge temperatures, report deviations to hub GP.
* Perform quality control tests for d‑dimer/BNP equipment.
* Work with receptionist to secure safe storage of Taurus equipment at the end of clinical sessions, dispose of clinical and domestic waste, and ensure safe and secure closure of the building at the end of the working day.
* Recognise the need for urgent/emergency care, take immediate action, call for help and alert clinicians (e.g., in anaphylaxis or cardiac arrest).
* Follow guidelines for the management of samples, recognise and work within the boundaries of safe practice based on personal competence and the limitations of the HCA role.
* Carry out any other appropriate duties as required.
