Food Technology Teacher – Southampton (Bitterne Area) Start Date: January 2026 Contract: Maternity Cover until July 2026 (with the potential for a permanent position) Pay: £160 – £240 per day (dependent on experience) Hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm | Full-Time Location: Near Bitterne, Southampton Position Overview Supply Desk is proud to be working in partnership with a secondary school located near Bitterne, Southampton, to recruit a Food Technology Teacher. This exciting maternity cover position starts in January 2026 and will run through to July 2026, with the possibility of a permanent contract for the right candidate. You’ll be joining a friendly and forward-thinking Design & Technology department, passionate about fostering creativity and practical learning. This role would suit both Early Career Teachers (ECTs)and experienced educators who have a genuine passion for inspiring students through Food Technology. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver engaging, hands-on Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. Inspire students to develop essential cooking and nutrition skills, as well as an understanding of healthy lifestyles. Track and assess student progress, offering constructive feedback to drive improvement. Contribute to the ongoing development of the curriculum and department initiatives. Maintain high expectations for student achievement, behaviour, and engagement. About the School: A mixed 11–16 secondary schoolsituated close toBitterne, Southampton. Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted (2022), with a welcoming, inclusive ethos and strong sense of community. Supportive Senior Leadership Teamfocused on staff wellbeing and professional growth. Excellent transport links and easy access from across the Southampton area. What We’re Looking For: A degree in Food Technology, Design & Technology, or a related subject (essential). Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification (preferred). Experience teaching Food Technology at KS3 and KS4. Strong classroom management and communication skills. A positive, engaging approach to teaching with a real passion for the subject. What We Offer: Competitive daily pay (£160–£240, depending on experience).
