There has never been a more exciting time to join East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking to appoint a Director of Financial Sustainability to join our leadership team. This role is crucial as we shape and deliver our strategy to achieve better patient outcomes.
This key position will support the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) in influencing and guiding the strategic development of the Trust. Reporting to the CFO, you will be involved in developing short-term and medium-term strategic plans to support effective decision-making, ensuring the Trust meets its strategic objectives for patient care and financial stability.
We are looking for a candidate with an outstanding track record in the NHS or the wider public sector, possessing excellent financial leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate may be financially qualified or have extensive experience delivering significant CIP programmes within a hospital environment.

As Director of Financial Sustainability, You Will:
1. Drive operational excellence and maximize resource efficiency across the Trust's five sites in East Kent.
2. Lead the development and execution of strategies to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and optimize operational efficiency. Focus areas will include identifying improvement opportunities to support the Medium Term Financial Sustainability Plan, implementing best practices, and achieving cost efficiencies without compromising patient care quality.
3. Collaborate with partners across the Kent and Medway Integrated Care System and the East Kent Health Care Partnership to achieve optimal patient outcomes and value for money.
This role requires a supportive leadership style, strong team-working skills, practical analytical ability, excellent communication skills, and a solid understanding of healthcare operations and financial management in a recovery environment. The candidate must support the CFO in accountability for improvements and embed strong governance to ensure lasting change.
