An exciting opportunity has become available for a Learning Support Assistant to join our highly successful Additional Learning Support team at our campus. This is a full-time position where you will be required to support learners to access their education. Ideally you will be educated to at least Level 3 and have already worked with 16- to 19-year-olds and/or adults with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities.
Your focus will be supporting learners in the classroom and assisting teaching staff to meet the diverse needs of learners. You may also spend some time supporting learners in out of class support sessions. Some knowledge of EHCP and the procedure associated with gathering information for annual review meetings is desirable.
An understanding of the specific educational needs of such students within an FE setting is desirable but a proven enthusiasm for this area of work essential for this exciting opportunity.
The Additional Learning Support team provides a range of support for students with a wide range of learning difficulties or disabilities to enable them to access the educational opportunities.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Contribute to the effective and efficient organisation and administration of initial and diagnostic assessments and communicate results to students and colleagues.
* Assist teaching staff to devise and implement individual learning plans to ensure that each student has a support programme and appropriate incremental learning targets.
* Work with teaching staff to ensure that additional learning support strategies are integrated into the planning and delivery of learning programmes.
* Provide learning support for students through small group and in-class delivery to facilitate the learning process.
* Monitor students' progress against agreed targets, using appropriate assessment tools as specified within the tutorial framework.
* Maintain records of student attendance and progress and provide relevant information for teaching staff, managers and external agencies as required.
* Participate in careers events and marketing activities and contribute to the admissions and interviewing process for prospective students.
* Supervise students in all contexts on premises and elsewhere during activities.
* When appropriate, provide personal support for students with physical disabilities and learning difficulties to enable them to fully participate in the learning process.
GENERAL AND COLLEGE RESPONSIBILITIES
* Participate actively and flexibly in a range of activities, such as duty rotas, enrolment and marketing events and staff and student activities.
* Participate in training and team development activities, to update skills and knowledge.

* Undertake such additional duties or projects as the Principal or line manager may determine from time to time, after consultation with the post holder.
You must be able to work well within a team and cross colleagues and have the aptitude to work independently, when required. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a diverse range of students. Keeping accurate records is essential. A pro-active and resourceful, learner-focused approach is required as you will be involved in creating individual support strategies plans, working collaboratively with curriculum-based colleagues.
