About the Team

Hertfordshire County Council is looking for a motivated and skilled Driver Training Officer to support the delivery of the National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme (NDORS) and wider road safety training initiatives across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a small, dedicated, and forward‑thinking team working to promote safer driving behaviours, reduce road casualties, and support drivers of all backgrounds—including vulnerable road users, driving offenders, and those who drive for work.

About the Role

* Support the successful delivery of the NDORS programme by training, monitoring, and evaluating contracted trainers.
* Deliver high‑quality NDORS courses both online and in classroom settings.
* Play a key part in the development of course materials, report writing, record keeping, and performance evaluation.
* Support and maintain the Driving Assessment Scheme and other Work‑Related Road Safety initiatives.
* Deliver driver safety training to businesses, HCC staff, and community groups, including Winter Driving Courses and wider driver safety events.
* Work flexibly, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends.
* Attend trainer observations, team meetings, and external appointments as required.

This is a varied and evolving role suited to someone adaptable, organised, and committed to high standards of service delivery.

* Strong road safety knowledge, including experience developing and delivering road safety initiatives.
* Good working knowledge of the Highway Code.
* Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
* Excellent communication skills, including report writing and presenting.
