About the role
As one of our Installation Trainees, you'll be training to become a qualified and accredited home installation specialist with the support of our knowledgeable team based in one of our Customer Delivery Hubs.
Once fully trained, you'll have the opportunity to bring our distinctive John Lewis service directly to customers' homes, installing products such as furniture, large electrical appliances, sound systems, and TV sets as part of a 2-person delivery crew. Due to the nature of the role, you need to be 18 years or older to work in this position.
Key Responsibilities
Your day will begin at the delivery hub before heading out on route, where your responsibilities will include:
* Being an ambassador for the John Lewis brand with excellent customer service as your top priority.
* Helping load the delivery vehicle with the day's deliveries alongside the warehouse team.
* Respecting the customer's home and handling unexpected situations to find the best solutions for customers.
* Installing products efficiently and demonstrating their use once installed.
* Staying up to date with new products and technologies to perform your role effectively.
* Maintaining a safe working environment.
Essential Skills and Experience
Previous installation experience is required, and we will support your development through our installer accreditation. Additional skills and experience include:
* Manual C1 UK driving license (with a maximum of 6 points).
* DCPC (Drivers Qualification Card) and Tachograph Card.
* Experience driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle.
* Experience in a customer-facing role.
* Excellent verbal communication skills, both over the phone and in person.
* Ability to handle the physical demands of the role, including delivering large items such as sofas, white goods, furniture, beds, and mattresses.
* Good understanding of technology.
Desirable Skills and Experience
Experience with:
* Installation and disconnection of white goods.
* TV installation.
* Assembly of flat-pack furniture.
