How you'll make a difference

As a Senior Support Worker, you will work closely with children aged 0‑5 and their families, helping them recognise their progress and achievements. By supporting families to build on their strengths, you will help them develop the confidence and skills needed to manage independently, reducing the need for long‑term professional intervention.


What you will be doing

* Completing whole family assessments, offering advice and guidance, and establishing plans where appropriate to ensure services are supportive, effective and meet the needs of families with children aged 0‑5.
* Reviewing and monitoring Early Help Plans, responding to changing needs and renegotiating in accordance with safeguarding procedures.
* Providing guidance and mentoring to other support workers, including those new to the team or needing additional help in specific areas of practice.
* Contributing to or leading an area of specialism within the team or across wider preventative services.
* Working with contacts from different sectors, ensuring effective communication so knowledge and best practice is shared.


What we need from you

* Holding or working toward a professional qualification such as a degree, NVQ 4 or equivalent in a relevant area such as health or social care.
* Showing willingness and ability to communicate and engage with a wide range of people, demonstrating patience and understanding.
* Being empathetic with a good sense of judgment regarding when and how to support, empower, listen, challenge or step back.
* Being resilient and able to keep going despite setbacks.


What you need to know

* Working Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
* Part‑time role; salary pro‑rata according to hours worked.
* Required to travel widely within the authority; must have a current driving licence and provide a vehicle or have access to appropriate means of travel.
* Business insurance must be added to your personal insurance policy.
* An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is a requirement of employment for this post.
