Westwood Recruitment are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Estimator to join our precision engineering / fabrication client based in Hull. Candidates with metalwork industry experience will be viewed highly favourably. Those in welding, laser cut fabrication, punching press brake, and CNC machining industries who are actively seeking a transition into an estimating/design office-based engineering role will be well-suited for this position.

Working Hours:
* Monday to Thursday: 7:30 am to 4:30 pm (with 30 minutes lunch break)
* Friday: 7:30 am to 12:00 pm
Key Responsibilities:
* The successful candidate will be responsible for formulating quotations and creating cost estimates for each component by analysing CAD or engineering drawings.
* The role will involve identifying the most suitable and cost-effective process route to manufacture components using internal capabilities and sub-contract operations.
* Estimate costs for projects based on technical drawings and specifications.
* Receive and review RFQs and engineering drawings from customer RFQ team.
* Liaise, communicate, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain subcontract costs.
* Prepare cost sheets for individual components and assemblies to deadlines, ready for quotation.
* Assist with preparation of production components and material by collaborating with various internal teams and uploading onto our ERP system.
* Work effectively with other members of the estimating department and wider business to achieve the most effective and competitive solutions.
* Support business/costing queries on our ERP system through reviewing process routes and BOMs.
* Develop skills in programming nesting and punching machines.
Skills & Experience:
* Engineering apprenticeship, formal engineering qualification, or industry experience is preferable.
* MUST be able to read and interpret technical drawings accurately.
* Computer literate, is ESSENTIAL with experience on the Amada software being a bonus.
* Commitment and drive to enhance the performance of the business.
* Excellent working knowledge of mechanical engineering.
* Excellent interpersonal, communicative, listening, and negotiation skills.
* Ability to use own initiative as well as working effectively as part of a team.
* Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize.
* Resilience when working to fixed deadlines.
* Accuracy and attention to detail.
