Overview
Job summary: We are appointing Consultants in Emergency Medicine to work in our Emergency Departments at The Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate. The role includes flexible working options and individual scheduling where possible.
We offer a 10 or 12 PA job plan (7.5DCC/2.5SPA or 9DCC/3SPA) with a flexible shift rota between 08:00–22:00 on weekdays and 8 hours at weekends. Fixed weekdays off or part-time positions can be accommodated where possible.
Main duties
Our emergency medicine consultants are supported by an EM workforce including 25 Middle Grade/Speciality Doctors, higher trainees, and ACCS posts. We welcome applicants interested in joint academic and clinical appointments and support professional and academic study, including postgraduate qualifications such as MBA or MSc and academic research. We support junior staff development through special interest posts and a CESR completion route and have trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners supported by Acute Care Nurse Consultants.

Person Specification
Skills Essential: Full GMC Registration; FRCEM or equivalent; CCT/CESR Specialist Registration or within 6 months of interview date; English Level 2 (GCSE grade C or equivalent), ILETS, or UK medical school graduate.
Desirable: Distinctions, scholarships, prizes; other degrees (BSc, MSc, MD); dual accreditation in ITU/PHEM/PEM; instructor status in advanced life support; leadership and teaching qualification.
Experience Essential: Wide and extensive experience in all aspects of Emergency Medicine. Desirable: Special interest within or outside of Emergency Medicine.
Clinical Governance Essential: Audit; complaints management; root cause analysis/serious incident investigation; morbidity and mortality meetings; structured judgement reviews.
