Main Duties and Responsibilities
As our Quantity Surveyor, you’ll take responsibility for the commercial and contractual management of projects from pre-tender through to final account - with a strong emphasis on the end-to-end project including internal fit-out, passive fire protection and specialist joinery packages.
Your responsibilities will include:
· Preparing tender pricing sections, bills of quantities and commercial submissions
· Managing project costs, budgets, valuations and variations across passive fire protection, joinery and associated construction contracts
· Preparation and management of monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), including cash-flow forecasting
· Identification, pricing and negotiation of variations and any inbound compensation
· Build-up of labour rates and resource-based pricing
· Contract administration under NEC and SBCC forms of contract
· Progress payment applications
· Cost forecasting, risk management and commercial reporting
· Tracking commercial performance and ensuring contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle
· Building strong client, supplier and subcontractor relationships
Required skills/experience:
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
· Are RICS Chartered or working towards this qualification
· Bring strong project management and commercial experience within construction
· Have hands-on experience costing passive fire protection works and joinery packages
· Proven competence in variation and change control management
· Resource pricing capability
· Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial forecasting)
· Confident administering contracts under New Engineering Contract (NEC) or equivalent.
· Right to work in the UK and subject to security clearances where appropriate
· Enjoy working in a collaborative environment where initiative is rewarded
Desirable Experience (Not Essential)
As part of our planned growth, experience in the following areas would be advantageous:
· Use of take-off software such as CostX, Bluebeam or similar
· Exposure to access control systems
· Experience with M&E elements encountered within refurbishment projects
· Active fire protection works
