Introduction
Artelier is an art advisory company sourcing, commissioning and curating artworks for a range of international projects. We are seeking a dedicated and inspiring art technician to join our supportive team for UK and/or global projects on a freelance basis with the potential for a permanent contract.
We have an exciting opportunity for a team of technicians to work on-site on a large-scale project in Saudi Arabia for up to 3 weeks between mid-October to December 2025.
Main Responsibilities
Art Handling
* Be responsible for packing, unpacking and repacking delicate and high-value items with care. These items vary from framed works and sculptures of different materials, weights and sizes.
* Strong attention to detail and a steady hand.
* Experience in meticulously inspecting artworks to ensure they are to Artelier's high standards.
* Supervise the installation of artworks on-site.
* Experience with creating condition reports.
* Answer technical queries relating to art handling, packing and installation.
* Follow detailed procedures to ensure every piece is protected and presented flawlessly.
* Ability to problem solve and be pro-active in finding solutions to technical problems that unexpectedly arise.
* Experience installing artworks including marking locations, security fixings etc and ability to change fixings.
* Collaborate with a team that values safety, respect, and excellence.
* Willingness to travel to global sites.
* A team player with a proactive attitude.
* Willingness to learn and take pride in craftsmanship.
* Comfortable working in varied environments and with tight deadlines.
Desirable
* Bristol-based not essential – but additional opportunities available.
* Experience with ordering crates, booking shipments – UK-based, Europe and international with couriers such as DHL as well air/ road/ sea freight.
* Access to a van for UK-based deliveries.
Education and Experience
* 10 years of operational or manual work experience in art, interiors or similar industry.
* Highly proficient in Microsoft software packages including word and excel, and email applications.
* Excellent general IT and software skills, and quick to learn new software and features.
* Excellent communication skills essential for duties such as note taking and giving task updates.
* Friendly, conscientious, uses own initiative, can organise and prioritise own workload.
