Summary of Main Purpose of Role:
To co-ordinate the technical staff within the academy to ensure the effective operation of College facilities and resources. Lead the maintenance of facilities, in line with health and safety requirements. Provide supervision to learners working in specialist areas and with specialist techniques to ensure their safe use. Co-ordinate the preparation and replenishment of resources utilised within College facilities. Take a lead on the implementation and adherence to specific industry requirements within the department. Ideally an understanding of a Civil Engineering lab with geotechnical analysis equipment, this will be required and may be identified as a training need for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure the effective running of curriculum areas, including health & safety, maintenance and resources.
2. Work with suppliers to ensure best value for money is secured in line with financial regulations.
3. Take responsibility for the financial aspects of procuring and receipting goods.
4. Ensure the adherence to financial processes.
5. Direct technicians to ensure effective technical support for curriculum areas.
6. Ensure utilisation of physical resources is maximised.
7. Prepare, adapt, organise and maintain learning environments and resources; and carry out the repair of equipment, where appropriate.
8. Work in a safe manner at all times in accordance with Health and Safety regulations and ensure students comply with Health & Safety at all times.
9. Supervise the completion and maintenance of accurate records and adherence to health and safety requirements.
10. Monitor resources against key performance indicators and benchmarks; implementing improvement plans where necessary.
11. Co-operate and liaise with other staff maintaining effective communication and attend meetings as required.
12. Coordinate the implementation of industry standard practices and requirements.
13. Demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values and behaviours of the organisation.
14. To deliver high quality technical support and undertake the full range of associated administration, quality and health and safety processes.
15. To advise, guide and support learners to support them to achieve their learning aims.
16. To actively participate in the learner recruitment and selection process.
17. To fully comply with college processes for example health and safety inspection record.
18. To liaise with external agencies/organisations, with parents/guardians and others as appropriate.
