What You'll Be Doing
Provide strong leadership, motivation, and direction to a team of multi‑skilled maintenance engineers.
Develop and implement a robust Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programme aligned with manufacturers' recommendations and statutory legislation, including all relevant risk assessments and compliance requirements relating to people, plant, equipment, property, environment, and health & safety.
Optimise the use of available resources to support routine and reactive maintenance activities.
Champion continuous improvement, introducing initiatives that enhance engineering performance and operational efficiency.
Promote and uphold a positive health and safety culture, ensuring standard activities are assessed and appropriate Engineering Safe Systems of Work (ESSOWs) are in place.
Ensure an effective and responsive fault‑resolution service that meets business needs at all times.
Oversee and manage external contractors, ensuring specialist equipment with service agreements is appropriately supported.
Support the forecasting and control of annual budget expenditure within your area of responsibility.
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date drawings, technical documentation, and maintenance records for all equipment.
Ensure all reporting, recording, and administrative requirements are completed to a high standard.
Safeguard the availability of business‑critical equipment to minimise disruption and maintain operational continuity.
Manage a diverse range of electrical, control, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems subject to varied and unpredictable breakdowns.
Ensure manufacturer maintenance procedures are fully adhered to in line with warranty conditions.
Take responsibility for ordering materials and spare parts in accordance with allocated budgets and designated responsibilities.
Maintain appropriate staffing levels across the engineering team to ensure continuous support for business operations.
Monitor and align manning levels with internal and external equipment maintenance requirements
Who You Are
Full Engineering Apprenticeship.
HNC/HND Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering.
Substantial Technical Electrical and Mechanical fitting skills and experience.
Minimum 3 years supervisory experience within an engineering environment.
PC and various software package skills.
PLC experience.
Leadership and management skills within a team environment.
Good organisational and basic presentation skills.
