The Role Reporting to the Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day site operations, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards while working within a live school environment. Key Responsibilities Managing all on-site activities throughout the steel frame extension programme Coordinating subcontractors and site labour to maintain programme targets Ensuring strict adherence to health & safety regulations, particularly within a live education environment Overseeing steel frame installation, structural works, and subsequent trades Conducting site inductions, toolbox talks, and daily briefings Monitoring quality control and ensuring works meet specification Liaising with the Project Manager, client representatives, and consultants Managing site documentation, RAMS, and progress reporting Requirements Proven experience as a Site Manager on steel frame construction projects Previous experience delivering school or education sector projects preferred Strong understanding of structural steel packages and sequencing of works Excellent organisational and communication skills Ability to manage subcontractors and maintain programme deadlines Essential Certifications SMSTS CSCS (Black/Gold Card preferred) First Aid at Work Asbestos Awareness (desirable) What's on Offer Competitive freelance day rate Opportunity to work with a reputable main contractor Immediate start on a well-structured project Potential for further freelance opportunities on completion If you're an experienced Site Manager with steel frame project experience and are available for your next freelance contract, we'd like to hear from you.
