Job Summary
Please note this post is temporary to cover maternity leave for six months or until the current post holder returns.

A vacancy has arisen for a temporary part-time Science Technician at Douglas Academy. The post holder will work Wednesday 8.45am – 12.15pm, Thursday 8.45am – 4.30pm with 45 minutes for lunch, and Friday 8am – 3.30pm with 30 minutes for lunch.
The successful candidate will be based at Douglas Academy but may be required to work in any East Dunbartonshire Council secondary school.
The role involves supporting science education practical classes by preparing and setting up materials, technical aids, and equipment; ensuring health and safety legislation and council policies are followed; and providing technician support across the school within flexible working arrangements.
Requirements include an NC or equivalent in a science-related subject, practical skills experience from education or work, computer literacy, and good organizational and time management skills. The candidate should be able to work independently and as part of a team.
PVG / Disclosure Scotland
All roles within East Dunbartonshire Council requiring PVG/Disclosure checks will adhere to the criteria outlined. Successful candidates for regulated roles will need to join the PVG Scheme or complete a PVG Scheme Update check before employment is confirmed. The cost of the check will be deducted from the first salary payment, with arrangements for repayment if employment ends before deduction. Existing employees applying for such roles will also be subject to these checks.
