Geotechnical Director

Location: Northampton (Hybrid / Flexible Working Available)
Full-Time | Permanent
Salary: £75,000 - £80,000
A strategic leadership opportunity with one of the UK's leading ground engineering consultancies has become available in Northampton. This senior leadership role offers the chance to take a lead on a wide range of geotechnical projects across the UK, working with clients spanning house builders, utilities, local authorities, land agents and private developers.
The Geotechnical Director role will involve:
Leading complex geotechnical projects from concept to delivery
Managing project budgets, timelines, quality, and client expectations
Liaising with clients.
Supporting business development, proposals, and strategic growth initiatives
Mentoring junior and mid-level engineers.
Providing expert support to ground investigation teams across projects
Providing high-level technical guidance and oversight on:
Slope stability and retaining structures
Earthworks and ground improvement
Basement Impact Assessments (BIA)
HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) design
Geotechnical risk management (GMA, GIR, GDR)To be considered for this Geotechnical Director you must have:
Degree-qualified in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering.
Be chartered or working towards it.
Significant experience in geotechnical consultancy
Strong track record of project leadership, client engagement, and technical delivery
Confident in managing multidisciplinary teams and providing mentoring
Excellent communication skills - both written and verbalThe Geotechnical Director selected will be offered:
Starting salary from £75,000+ (negotiable depending on experience)
