This Consultant role provides clinical, operational and strategic leadership for Wellbeing Matters, the Trust’s staff psychological support service. You will lead a small team and work closely with other clinical leads, teams and managers, as well as Organisational Development, HR, Patient Safety and senior leaders, to shape an inclusive, evidence‑based offer that supports staff wellbeing, psychological safety and organisational resilience.
This high‑impact leadership role combines clinical expertise, strategic working and service development with operational management and clinical delivery. You will influence Trust‑wide policy and culture, respond to complex workforce challenges, and play a key role in organisational developments and incident responses.
The role supports your ongoing development in clinical leadership and change management, while enabling you to apply your expertise in supervision, consultation, training and governance.
On‑site working and Berkshire‑wide travel are required; reasonable adjustments are supported alongside hybrid working.
Key Duties
* Continually refine the Wellbeing Matters model to meet local needs and enhance staff support.
* Ensure rapid, effective psychosocial assessment, training, and support for all staff and managers.
* Operate the service efficiently, meeting financial and performance targets while balancing demand and capacity.
* Govern practice, report on performance, and maintain systematic quality standards.
* Manage multidisciplinary staff through recruitment, supervision, appraisal, and professional development.
* Provide expert advice, training, and consultation on staff wellbeing to internal and external stakeholders.
* Coordinate psychological support for staff involved in incidents or investigations, working with directors and managers.
* Represent Wellbeing Matters and the trust at local, regional, and national forums, driving initiatives in staff support.
* Collaborate with corporate teams to review and shape staff wellbeing policy.
* Advise and respond to major incidents, supporting the Director of Psychology and Psychological Therapies.
* Resolve complex ethical and organisational dilemmas within the workforce.
Qualifications
* Post‑graduate doctorate in clinical or counselling psychology (or equivalent) and Health Care Professional Council accreditation.
* Post‑doctoral leadership qualification.
* Extensive clinical experience with a strong staff support background.
* A record of successful clinical leadership, service development, and strategic working.
* Ability to work autonomously and develop effective interpersonal networks.
* Ability to travel between sites in Berkshire.
