We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Patient Safety Midwife to lead key clinical presence across maternity services. The role involves developing and supporting maternity staff in learning from safety incidents, aiming to reduce harm and risk within the service.
Responsibilities:
1. Deliver expert training and guidance on quality and safety.
2. Collaborate with the senior midwifery team to implement evidence-based practices and manage risks.
3. Support the Deputy Associate Director of Midwifery and Lead for Quality and Safety in delivering key safety messages and learning to the multidisciplinary team (MDT) in the Women’s Division.
4. Work closely with the lead obstetric consultant for clinical governance to share learning from adverse incidents through teaching, presentations, and simulation.
5. Coordinate with clinical governance operational leads to investigate complaints and adverse incidents, review themes, and present findings to teams.
6. Work with patient experience and engagement leads to implement credible improvement plans.
7. Support the Divisional leadership team for Women’s services and deliver key learning streams aligned with the clinical governance team’s output.
8. Utilize data from Datix for updating safety boards, develop safety newsletters, and analyze patient cases and incident trends.
9. Contribute to developing and coaching local leaders in learning from safety incidents and reducing harm.
