Overview
Pate’s Grammar School’s English Department is seeking a part‑time English teacher (0.4–0.8 FTE) who is passionate about fostering a love of literature and critical thinking in students aged Year 7–10. The role includes teaching GCSE English Language and Literature using the Eduqas syllabus and OCR A Level English Literature, participating in extracurricular activities such as public speaking and student‑led societies, and supporting creative writing and essay competitions.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and deliver engaging lessons for years 7–10, including split teaching groups for year 10.
* Incorporate the latest pedagogic research and practice into lessons.
* Track and support students’ progress, providing feedback and encouraging participation in creative writing, essay competitions and theatre trips.
* Collaborate with colleagues within the department and contribute to a supportive work environment.
Qualifications and Experience
* Qualified teacher with a minimum of a teaching qualification for the English curriculum.
* Experience teaching in a mainstream secondary school, preferably with GCSE and A Level English.
* Strong enthusiasm for literature, ability to inspire students, and clear communication skills.
* Willingness to undertake the necessary safeguarding and Disclosure and Barring Service checks.
