*Purpose*
The technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of HGVs, Plant, Agricultural Machinery, Company Vans and Company Pickups.
The role focuses on preventative and reactive maintenance to ensure our vehicles remain roadworthy and compliant with DVSA standards. PMIs are carried out by third parties. This role supports the efficient operation of the fleet while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety. The role is 80% practical work and 20% administration work. Must be willing to do overtime.
*Core Responsibilities*
_Vehicle Inspection and Compliance_
* Ensure all vehicles and trailers are maintained to legal and safety requirements.
* Identify potential defects or safety concerns and ensure they are addressed promptly.
_Maintenance & Repairs_
* Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults on HGVs, trailers, associated equipment and company vans / cars.
* Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs to company fleet vehicles.
* Utilise diagnostic equipment and workshop tools to complete repairs efficiently.
* Maintain high standards of workmanship across all repair and maintenance tasks.
_Workshop Operations_
* Work independently and with the operations manager within the onsite workshop environment.
* Maintain accurate records of work completed.
* Ensure parts are ordered and used efficiently, working with available stock.
* Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment at all times.
_Operational Support_
* Transport company or customer vehicles to MOT test stations when required.
* Complete daily defect checks and associated records.
* Work collaboratively with the transport team to ensure fleet availability.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of workshop efficiency and maintenance standards.
* Holiday / Absence cover and willingness to do overtime as and when required.
*Person Specification*
* Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic, Fitter, or Heavy Vehicle Technician.
* Proven experience with Plant and Agricultural Vehicles.
* Strong mechanical and diagnostic fault-finding ability.
* Knowledge of DVSA inspection standards, PMIs, and MOT preparation requirements.
* Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
* Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team.
* Electrical engineering experience or qualification.
* HGV Licence (C+E) (Class 1)
