Overview
Trainee CYP-IAPT Systemic Family Practitioner positions within CAMHS across the Durham and Tees Valley localities. Two 12-month full-time trainee posts are available: one with Durham and Darlington Learning Disability CAMHS and one with Redcar CAMHS (Getting More Help Service). The programme combines university-based training with clinical work in a CAMHS team, leading toward a Post Graduate Diploma in Evidence Based Psychological Therapy (Systemic Family Practice).
Responsibilities
* Carry a caseload of systemic family practice training cases within a multidisciplinary CAMHS team.
* Participate in weekly supervision and teaching days at the University of Northumbria; complete assessments via written submissions, case studies and supervision logs.
* Travel to the University of Northumbria as required and work within the allocated CAMHS base (Durham and Darlington Learning Disability CAMHS or Redcar CAMHS).
* Engage in evidence-based systemic and family interventions for children, young people and families under clinical supervision.
* Complete a course of study over one year with a mix of university contact, independent study and direct work with clients.
Location
Training base at the University of Northumbria; clinical base in CAMHS in the Durham and Darlington localities for the Learning Disability post, or Redcar CAMHS (Ridings, Redcar) for the other post. Interviewing will consider location preferences where possible but cannot be guaranteed.
Requirements / Qualifications
Essential
* Professional qualification in nursing, social work, occupational therapy or equivalent with registration with a regulatory body (e.g., NMC, HCPC, Social Work England).
* Current UK registration with a professional body; willingness to travel and have own transport.
* A minimum of 2 years’ experience in mental health services.
* Ability to communicate complex information effectively in writing and verbally; ability to develop therapeutic relationships; ability to meet service targets.
Desirable
* Experience in a stepped-care service for anxiety/depression or other mild to moderate mental health needs.
* Experience in Primary Care/IAPT settings and demonstrated clinical outcomes.
Additional Information
* These posts are fixed-term for 12 months with a potential for permanent appointment if funded.
