Primary‑Trained SEN Teacher – Specialist School – Fawley, Hampshire
Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Long‑term or Permanent | Salary: MPS
Prospero’s client school is offering an excellent opportunity for a Primary‑trained teacher to work with SEN pupils across Years 3 to 6 within a highly supportive specialist provision. The school supports pupils with severe or complex needs, including SEMH needs, trauma, Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), attachment disorder, and phobia of education.

This specialist provision supports pupils who benefit from a quieter, structured setting with a strong therapeutic ethos. Pupils have a wide range of abilities and may present with complex emotional, behavioural or communication needs. The school prioritises personalised learning and pupil‑centred development through:
1. One‑to‑one and small‑group teaching to support engagement and confidence
2. Tailored academic and therapeutic support delivered by a multi‑disciplinary team

Your Role
As the Primary‑trained SEN Teacher for Years 3-6, you will:
5. Teach a primary‑based curriculum tailored to pupils with a wide range of needs
6. Deliver core subjects through highly personalised, differentiated learning
7. Adapt teaching to meet emotional, behavioural and communication needs
8. Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may have experienced trauma
9. Create a structured and nurturing classroom environment

What You’ll Need
14. Right to work in the UK
15. Full UK driving licence (beneficial due to location)
16. QTS with Primary training or strong primary‑phase teaching experience
17. Experience teaching core subjects
18. Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
19. Recent safeguarding training (or willingness to complete)
20. References covering the last 24 months
Preferential Experience
21. Experience working with SEND, particularly pupils with complex needs or behaviours that challenge
22. Experience delivering primary‑style learning in specialist or alternative settings
23. Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs or trauma‑informed approaches
