Our practice manager is retiring after 33 years at the surgery. We are now looking to appoint her successor to join our friendly, well-established and supportive, small team of clinical and administrative staff.
Main duties of the job
You will be an ambassador for the surgery, and as such will lead by example - helping to foster a pleasant, caring, efficient and productive atmosphere for patients and workforce alike.

Job responsibilities
Alexandra Surgery is a relatively small, friendly and well-managed surgery in the heart of Wimbledon town - a stone's throw from the train station, tram and shops - but if you prefer to drive, there is parking.
You will only be our third practice manager in 40 years and will join a close-knit surgery who try our uttermost to serve our patients and the community, and provide an excellent level of medical care in a safe and friendly environment where patients and staff are treated and valued with respect and understanding. You only have to ask our patients - some of whom have been with us for over forty years.
You will be responsible for the smooth daily operational running of the surgery.
You will support the GP partners in the development and delivery of the practice's strategic objectives and the delivery of the quality care framework targets and local incentive schemes.
You will maintain and update practice policy.
You will manage patient complaints - although, thankfully, we have very few.
You will manage the accounts and liaise with our external accountants.
You will manage external suppliers and service contracts.
HR: you will manage staff recruitment, induction, payroll, formation and retention.
You will oversee the management of the premises to ensure a safe and pleasant environment for patients and staff.
You will contribute to, and implement PCN initiatives.
Hours are 37.5 per week. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A SURGERY-BASED ROLE AND YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO WORK FROM HOME. We are very happy to consider compressed hours to fit around your lifestyle, but you should plan to attend the surgery on no fewer than 4 days a week.
You will benefit from a generous holiday package of 6 weeks plus statutory bank holidays.

* Must be an experienced practice manager in primary care. Must be extremely IT literate and familiar with multiple NHS software and IT systems including emis, accurx, payroll software.
