Overview
Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for a Senior IT Security Lead to join Bradford Council on an initial 3-6 month temporary contract. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain the organisation's IT Security Strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance with relevant standards (e.g. ISO 27001, NIST, NCSC, GDPR, Cyber Essentials).
* Lead the creation, implementation, and monitoring of security policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
* Provide technical oversight of system, network, and cloud configurations, including vulnerability management and threat analysis.
* Manage and coordinate security assurance, audits, and compliance activities.
* Oversee incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning, ensuring operational resilience.
* Act as the senior point of contact for cyber security matters, engaging with internal teams, partners, and national forums.
* Promote a strong security culture across the organisation through awareness, training, and leadership.
* Monitor emerging threats, technologies, and best practices to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
About You
You will be a seasoned information security professional with a strong background in cyber risk management, technical assurance, and governance. You'll combine hands-on technical understanding with the ability to influence, advise, and engage at a senior level.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Proven experience in a senior IT security or information assurance role.
* Strong knowledge of security frameworks such as ISO 27001, NCSC, NIST, and GDPR.
* Experience leading on security governance, compliance, and technical reviews.
* Excellent understanding of cloud security, IAM, and infrastructure protection.
