OPERATIONS DIRECTOR - TIMBER & TIMBER PRODUCTS

Our client is an award‑winning distributor of timber and timber products with almost 100 years of experience in supplying the construction sector, OEMs, fit‑out contractors, timber merchants, builders’ merchants and specialist end users centred around the North West of England. They are seeking an Operations Director to oversee and manage production, logistics, warehouse operations, inventory, transport and team management to ensure timely and effective delivery of products.
Reporting to: Managing Director.
Key Responsibilities
* Staff supervision & development; lead, manage and mentor all operational teams.
* Forecast operational needs, including staffing, equipment and resource allocation to meet business demand.
* Implement and develop operational strategies, processes, policies and systems to improve efficiency, productivity and quality across all business functions.
* Ensure efficient and safe workflow; identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to streamline operations.
* Continuously monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPI) to assess the effectiveness of operations.
* Manage key operational projects from inception to completion.
* All risk management: identify operational risks and develop strategies to minimise disruptions.
Qualifications & Skills
* Proven experience in Operations Management.
* Exceptional organisational and time‑management abilities.
* Strong experience in warehouse procedures, inventory control and logistics.
* Solid understanding of Health & Safety (IOSH).
* Experience implementing ISO accreditations.
* Effective communication skills.
* Customer‑focused with sound commercial skills.
* Good IT skills, PC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook.
Location / Area: North West of England.
Salary: Highly attractive base salary + performance‑based bonus.
