About the Role As Head of Facilities, youll lead the operational heart of a large-scale public venue ensuring every system, structure, and space runs safely, smoothly, and sustainably.
Youll oversee a talented team of Facilities Managers responsible for engineering, maintenance, housekeeping, and event setup. From critical infrastructure such as HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and life safety systems to large event turnarounds and long-term capital improvements your leadership will keep the venue performing at its best.
This role blends strategic direction with hands-on leadership, balancing technical expertise, compliance, and people management in one of the UKs most dynamic environments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop Facilities Managers across maintenance, assets, housekeeping, and events setup
Ensure compliance, safety, and operational excellence across all building systems
Oversee preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and emergency preparedness plans
Manage budgets and performance data, ensuring efficiency and best value
Support capital projects, sustainability initiatives, and continuous improvement
Collaborate with event and operations teams to deliver seamless event support
Foster a positive, high-performance culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and service
About You Youll be an experienced facilities or operations leader confident managing complex venues, estates, or large public spaces where performance, safety, and teamwork are critical.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Proven leadership in facilities management or large-scale operational environments
Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety)
Excellent understanding of compliance and health & safety (IOSH Managing Safely essential)
Experienced in managing budgets, contractors, and multi-disciplinary teams
Skilled communicator with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Able to perform under pressure and deliver results in fast-paced settings
Desirable:
NEBOSH qualification
Experience within arenas, stadiums, or large public facilities
Knowledge of sustainability or energy management systems (ISO 14001 / ISO 50001)
