Westmorland and Furness Council
Location: Westmorland Shopping Centre
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37 Hours per week

Local Government in Cumbria has changed. The current six district councils and Cumbria County Council have now been replaced by two new unitary authorities - Westmorland and Furness Council and Cumberland Council.

About this opportunity
We are looking to recruit a full time Civil Enforcement Officer that will cover 7 days a week, working to annualised hours on a rota based system. The successful candidates will work as part of the Thriving Places team, reporting to the Parking Team Leader.
The successful candidate will:
• Patrol the car parks subject to parking regulations within the Westmorland and Furness Council area.
• Issuing Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) or other enforcement notices to vehicles found to be in apparent contravention of the regulations.
• Attending Adjudication hearings as required in support of the Council in connection with PCNs.
• Ensuring car parks are correctly used and to prevent or investigate unauthorised uses, e.g. builder's skips, commercial users, etc.
• Inspecting car parks in order to ensure they attain the necessary standard of cleanliness and tidiness and collect small items of waste and litter as required.
• Reporting problems and faults with the general condition of car parks, in particular damage to the car park surface and signage.
Who we are looking for
As a Civil Enforcement Officer, you will be responsible for:

In addition the successful candidate will:

In addition, you will have:
• A good standard of education with a minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent experience
• The ability to communicate effectively with members of the public and other team members
• Experience of working with computers and Microsoft Office
• Demonstrable experience of working with the public in a similar type role
