We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Specialist Dental Nurse to join the Maxillofacial and Dental team. To provide effective expertise, advice and support to all ward/department teams and ensure the provision of high-quality care to children, young people and their families. Providing high standards of clinical care and support to all staff grades. The role involves the preparation and maintenance of the clinical areas including stocks of materials and equipment and collecting and inputting data into the patient administration system and assisting the Dental and wider MDT on a day-to-day basis.
To be considered for this role you must be a registered Dental Nurse with excellent clinical skills with a relevant background in Dental Nursing. It is essential to have demonstrable experience of working in a Dental clinical unit and show qualities of a team player and role model.
Main duties of the job
The department delivers Paediatric and Restorative dentistry, Orthodontics and Maxillofacial surgery to children under the care of Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) who, because of their medical history, are unable to access this care elsewhere.
The department sees over 5,000 patients each year as outpatients within the department. The inpatient workload is just under 300 episodes.
We also have an in-house dental laboratory service which supports the department.
You will assist in the treatment of patients with medical histories including craniofacial anomalies, infectious diseases, high risk conditions, complex skin disorders and high dependency patients with mental and physical disabilities. The role also includes general housekeeping and admin duties.
The role involves working as a member of the Dental Nursing team supporting the clinicians with delivering treatment within a department, ward and theatre setting. The team delivers care to both NHS patients and International Paying Patients.

* Considerable post qualification experience in practical dental nursing
