Full Job Description
One of the UK's leading ports is recruiting for a Port Hydrographer to manage its Hydrographic department.
Reporting to the Director of Marine Operations, the company is looking for an experienced Port Hydrographer to join the team and develop the Hydrographic service.
The successful candidate will have responsibility for developing and managing the commercial performance of the Hydrographic Service, focusing on enhancing profitability and driving business growth.
Other key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
1. Supervise the Hydrographic Service's operations, ensuring adherence to statutory responsibilities and industry best practices.
2. Enhance and manage the service's commercial performance to boost profitability and ensure business sustainability.
3. Secure the long-term growth and stability of the Hydrographic Service, balancing both commercial and regulatory requirements.
4. Lead a team committed to maintaining the safety and navigational integrity of the tidal Thames.
The successful candidate will have over 10 years of experience in a Hydrographic environment and hold a leadership or project management position. Chartered status is ideally preferred.
You will have proven ability to drive commercial success and manage long-term business development. Leadership experience with both professional and operational personnel, focusing on growth and transformation, is essential.
You should be skilled in negotiation, operate independently, and have a comprehensive understanding of risk management, including operational, business, environmental, and reputational aspects.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, both written and spoken, with a proven track record of presenting to all levels, from project teams to board members.
