CAD Assistant - Fantastic Opportunity with Progression Route!
Pay: £28k to £30k per annum
Hours: Monday-Friday, 08:00-17:00 (40 hrs per week, 1‑hour lunch)
About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and detail‑focused CAD Assistant to support our technical team with 2D drawings, surveys, and documentation. This role is ideal for someone with basic to intermediate CAD experience who enjoys technical work, problem‑solving, and working closely with engineers, the lab team, and clients.
You'll spend time both at your desk and on the shopfloor, gathering measurements, checking drawings, and helping produce accurate technical information.
There is a clear progression path to Project Manager for the right person.
A CAD test will be completed as part of the interview process.
Key Responsibilities
Review client drawings and bills of materials before installations.
Liaise with Technical Officers and clients to clarify information or request missing details.
Carry out accurate measurements and surveys, recording evidence such as notes and photographs.
Produce elevations, section drawings, component schedules, and written descriptions.
Use AutoCAD LT, Microsoft Office, and internal systems daily.
Support and train colleagues on survey processes when needed.
Perform additional duties relevant to the role.
Essential Skills & Experience
Confident using AutoCAD LT (2D).
Experience in a technical, construction, engineering, or similar environment.
Ability to understand and work from technical drawings.
Good level of English and Maths.
Strong communication skills.
Good IT skills, including MS Office.
Highly organised with the ability to meet deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Commitment to safe working practices.
Desirable Skills
HND or similar qualification in Engineering, CAD, or a technical/scientific field.
Knowledge of construction processes or technical site risks.
Personal Attributes
Confident communicator, able to liaise with clients professionally.
Enjoys measurement, accuracy, and technical evaluation.
Objective, logical, and demonstrates sound judgement.
Detail‑driven with a strong focus on correct information.
