Those Huge Small Victories
Our Assistant Head Teachers are fulfilled by the idea of making even the smallest positive changes in our young people, so we celebrate the little things. There's lots of ups and downs, and to some of our young people, sitting through a lesson can be a big win. We call these huge small victories, and whilst they may seem small on the surface, they add up to make a big difference.
Get out what you put in
You'll be working with children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Alongside the Head Teacher, you'll set the vision for the future of the school, ensuring we have the right people and plans in place so that our young people leave feeling proud of what they've achieved. Resilience and dedication are essential, but the huge small victories you achieve will be something you're truly proud of.
It can be a tough journey, but the positive steps forward will more than compensate. As an Assistant Head Teacher at Witherslack Group, you'll receive all the support you need to succeed—from the broader management team to a range of specialists. Your colleagues will be experts in their fields, the school environments will be well-resourced, and we'll support you every step of the way to build a rewarding teaching career.
One of the best environments in SEND
The transformational impact of Avon Park School is evident to parents, carers, and professionals alike. The school's ability to connect and engage with pupils stems from its strong ethos of high expectations and aspirations for every child, culminating in an Outstanding Ofsted rating.
All staff, including teaching, pastoral, and therapy teams, work collaboratively to ensure each pupil develops academically, emotionally, and personally. This whole-school commitment helps pupils with ADHD, ASD, Asperger's, or SEMH grow into capable and confident young people eager to succeed.
