Overview
NHSE England is recruiting an Academy Lead [Diagnostics Radiography] on a secondment for a fixed term basis for the South East Imaging Training Academy. The post holder will sit within the NHSE South East Cancer and Diagnostics Programme team and will be instrumental in leading the ongoing development and implementation of the South East Imaging Training Academy.
The purpose of the Academy Lead [Diagnostic Radiographer], in partnership with the Academy Lead [Consultant Radiologist], is to provide South East regional leadership for the delivery of high quality, cross specialty, and multi-professional Imaging training, through leading the South East Imaging Training Academy and the core academy team.
The successful candidate will be passionate about the delivery and management of imaging education and training in the South East. They will promote and strengthen the practice of lifelong learning along the professional development continuum from qualification to retirement. The successful candidate will show an understanding of the important contribution made by all members of the multi-professional health care team, including support staff as well as clinicians.
Please note that the reason for the fixed term basis of this secondment is funding availability only until 31 March 2026.
The overall aim is to increase the number of learners transitioning to the workforce utilising an academy model to increase training capacity, provide a high quality and enhanced training experience and accelerate learning to independent practice.
The successful candidate should have excellent understanding of and evidence of involvement in the delivery and management of imaging education and training, experience as a senior clinician with HCPC registration working in the field of imaging in the UK, a transformation leadership style, and experience in strategic thinking, problem solving and calculated risk management.
Responsibilities
* Lead the development and delivery of the South East Imaging Training Academy, including management of the core academy team.
* Provide leadership aligned to the aims of the academy to increase regional training capacity.
* Coordinate multi-professional training across a team, including clinical radiology, diagnostic radiography and sonography, medical physicists and imaging & mammography support workforce.
* Enable immersive training in priority areas to support rapid development of skills and learning trajectory.
* Optimize available teaching faculty and training environments.

* Experience in delivery and management of imaging education and training.
* Experience as a senior clinician with HCPC registration in the UK imaging field.

Contract and recruitment details
The position is a secondment on a fixed-term basis due to funding availability until 31 March 2026. Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person. If you are successful at interview, an Inter Authority Transfer (IAT) will be run in the Electronic Staff Record (ESR) system to support onboarding, including statutory and mandatory competency status, Continuous Service Dates (CSD), and annual leave entitlement.
