Assistant Manager - Housekeeping

We are now seeking a dedicated and experienced Housekeeping Assistant Manager to join our lovely team. This role is key to ensuring guests have an exceptional stay during their time at Murrayshall Country Estate. We encourage you to have fun, be genuine and enjoy your work.

About Murrayshall:

Set in 365 acres of stunning Perthshire countryside, Murrayshall offers a luxurious four-star country house experience in the heart of Scotland. Lovingly restored over the past few years, the former home of Lord Lynedoch dates back over 400 years. It is situated just 3 miles from the cultural city of Perth, offering guests a tranquil haven in which to unwind and relax, with 40 elegant and spacious rooms and suites, 27-holes of stunning parkland golf and delicious local cuisine in our Eolas Restaurant. The Resort is undertaking a period of growth capitalising on the glorious estate surrounding the hotel, with the latest release being 22 Armadilla pod-style cabins, marking a new era of luxury and comfort for the Estate.

Main Responsibilities:

Relationships (Client, Guests and Employees)

· Deputise for the Head of Housekeeping, responsible for the smooth running and operation of the housekeeping team.

· Support the Head of Housekeeping in ensuring the rooms and all public areas are secure and thoroughly cleaned and presented to a high standard.

· Coach and train the team to make sure all housekeeping areas are serviced and cleaned to a thorough standard and prioritised in line with customer and business requirements. Be hands on to clean a section of rooms, and public areas where needed.

· Circulate and issue rotas for staff and any paperwork required.

· Report on guest requirements, making sure the team are aware of such requirements.

· Check on the team's progress and direct and support as required.

· Resolve any issues as they arise and provide feedback to the team.

* In all bedrooms you clean or check, make sure all information in the rooms for customers is up to date, accurate, clean, and professionally presented. Replace materials if required.
* Reorganising and reprioritising tasks if there is any absence, assisting the manager where required with return-to-work meetings and reporting absence/ timekeeping issues.

· To be aware of and ensure that those responsible to you are aware of all legislation that is relevant to your work and ensure that all legal requirements are met.

* Adhere to both Company Policies and to any task asked of them by their manager.

Communication

· Deal with guest enquiries efficiently and effectively.

· Ensure effective communication between all departments.

· Maintain a good awareness of all the hotel areas.

Driving Performance

· To be involved in the day to day staff training.

· To help contribute to the success and surpass budgets for each financial year.

· Ensure policies and procedures are in place to achieve and support agreed service standards.

Innovation

· To share and bring to the table any new ideas to enhance the service.

* Look for ways to improve yourself and your work.

Developing People/Working with Others

· Work with the Head of Housekeeping to, train and manage the performance of the staff ensuring effective performance in current job and development for the future.

· Coach teams to achieve operational effectiveness and excellence.

Setting Direction

· Ensure operational activities meet administrative requirements in respect of health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies, and general responsibilities of duty of care as well as company best practice.

· Champion customer focus throughout the business.

· Be a role model for the team making sure you are professional, friendly, efficient and punctual and ensuring the team does, likewise, taking remedial action where needed.

· Support the Head of Housekeeping to carry out any performance reviews or investigations with the team you supervise.

Person Specification

· An experienced operator with in-depth knowledge of the housekeeping operation.

· A dynamic individual with a can do attitude and a results driven approach.

· The ability to handle pressurised situations.

· Someone who has an inbuilt attention to detail and efficiency, and who is also able to see the bigger picture.

· A natural leader guiding the team efficiently and providing an inspiring atmosphere in which to work.

· Someone who is persistent, proactive, and creative in your problem-solving approach.

· An ambitious, fun and positive individual, who is an excellent communicator and immaculately presented, but still knows when they must, to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in.
