We are seeking an experienced Finance Officer with a strong background in the music industry to oversee and strengthen our financial operations on a part-time basis.
The Role
The Finance Officer will take ownership of financial management across the business, working closely with directors and external accountants to ensure robust reporting, forecasting, commission management and financial control.
This role requires someone confident navigating the complexities of music industry income streams and artist management commission structures.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead annual forecasting and financial planning
* Bank reconciliations, purchase ledger, credit cards and expenses
* Manage project budgeting across artist campaigns and tours
* Oversee royalties and commissions tracking and reconciliation
* Manage commission structures and income management processes
* Monitor and reconcile income streams across recorded, publishing, live and brand activities
* Ensure accurate calculation and allocation of management commissions
* Prepare VAT returns and liaise with external accountants on statutory compliance
* Maintain and improve financial systems and controls
* Produce ad hoc reports and financial analysis based on the companies existing data
About You
Essential:
* Proven experience in a Finance Officer or similar role within the music industry
* Demonstrable experience working with artist management, independent labels, or music-related businesses
* Strong understanding of royalty accounting, tour settlements and commission models
* Experience preparing management accounts, forecasting and project budgets
* Excellent Excel and accounting software proficiency
* High attention to detail and strong organisational capability
