Client Manager – Remote (UK)
Are you a practice accountant who enjoys owning client relationships, leading delivery teams and improving how finance functions operate?
We’re hiring a Client Manager to take end-to-end responsibility for a portfolio of ambitious businesses. You’ll act as their main finance contact, oversee outsourced delivery, and work closely with senior leadership to enhance systems, controls and client outcomes.
This role is ideal for someone looking to step into a more influential position with fewer clients, greater autonomy and a clear route into senior leadership.
The Role
As a Client Manager, you’ll balance relationship ownership with technical oversight. While much of your focus will be on review, leadership and client strategy, you’ll remain close enough to the detail to ensure accuracy, consistency and timely delivery.
What’s on offer:
* A smaller, higher-value client portfolio
* Full ownership of client communication and service delivery
* Oversight of outsourced bookkeeping and payables functions
* Input into financial controls, processes and reporting frameworks
* Involvement in technology adoption and automation projects
* Commercial exposure and responsibility for identifying additional service needs
* A defined progression pathway into senior management
Key Responsibilities
* Managing the preparation and review of management accounts and statutory reporting
* Overseeing corporation tax compliance and VAT submissions
* Acting as the primary point of contact for assigned clients
* Reviewing work produced by outsourced bookkeeping teams
* Stepping into hands-on accounting work where required
* Monitoring scope, profitability and delivery across your portfolio
* Improving client workflows by embedding efficient finance processes
* Supporting the rollout of new systems, tools and reporting enhancements
* Identifying opportunities to expand or deepen client engagements
About You
You’ll be confident, organised and comfortable taking ownership — someone who enjoys working directly with clients while maintaining high technical standards.
You’ll bring:
* ACA or ACCA qualification (or AAT with progression underway)
* 3+ years’ experience within a UK accountancy practice
* Strong technical accounting knowledge, including full balance sheet control
* Experience with cloud accounting platforms (e.g. Xero)
* The ability to review, challenge and improve others’ work
* Excellent communication and time-management skills
* Confidence working remotely in a fast-paced environment
Working Pattern
* Fully remote position (UK-based applicants only)
* Competitive salary dependent on experience and level
* Ongoing support for professional development and qualifications
If you’re looking for a role where you can truly own client relationships, influence how finance services are delivered and progress based on performance rather than tenure, this could be your next move.
