Overview
The Post Holder will support their team, department, and organization to achieve the Trust’s values in day-to-day work. They will uphold the Trust’s values of kindness, respect, collaboration and community engagement.
Responsibilities
* Take lead responsibility for the internal delivery of strategic and operational procurement for defined categories of expenditure by delivering a portfolio of high‑value and/or strategic contracts.
* Support the Chief Procurement Officer (and deputise in their absence) in developing the interface between the business units, corporate support functions and the procurement team to drive change, innovative procurement practice and contract compliance, in pursuit of savings and cost avoidance.
* Through sourcing, deliver aspects of a strategic procurement work plan and participate in relevant regional and national Procurement hub work‑streams. This includes achieving annual savings targets, complying with all relevant legislation, identifying areas for future investigation and adding value to the Trust.
* Work autonomously to achieve and maintain the NHS Procurement & Commercial Standards accreditation by leading on a key area of strategic delivery.
* Lead on strategic, complex and high‑value procurement exercises.
* Oversee the portfolio of categories of spend to ensure effective use of resources in delivering the Trust’s objectives.
* Accountability for business‑as‑usual delivery for the Procurement Shared Service.
* Accountability for the assigned strategic areas in line with the Continuous Commercial Assessment Framework.
* Manage recruitment, retention and development programmes to sustain service delivery.
* Develop and manage the Procurement Department staff, ensuring individual professional development through a Training Needs Analysis.
* Use highly developed persuasion and influencing skills to engage with and influence key stakeholders at all levels within the organisation in order to facilitate participation in identified procurement activity.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication, negotiation and analytical skills, with the ability to influence at all levels. They will demonstrate commercial awareness, sound judgement and a proactive approach to problem‑solving. A commitment to collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement—aligned to the Trust’s WeCare values—is essential, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment.
