This appointment is for a Specialist Doctor to join the newly merged, dynamic Dermatology team at University Hospital Dorset. The team delivers the full range of Dermatology services to patients from Dorset and Hampshire from two well-resourced units at Christchurch Hospital and Poole Hospital.
Funding is available for one full-time post, with flexibility to consider part-time applicants to complement the job plans of current senior Doctors.
We welcome sub-specialty interests to complement the current team, including vulval dermatology, paediatric dermatology, patch testing, Moh’s micrographic surgery, Medical Dermatology, and/or Pathology.
The post holder will be based initially at the Poole and Christchurch sites but may have clinical duties at Bournemouth Hospital. They will play a full role in delivering Dermatology services for both in-patient and out-patient activities, and lead continued development and Quality Improvement.
Sub-specialty interests such as vulval dermatology, paediatric dermatology, patch testing, advanced surgery, Moh’s surgery, Medical Dermatology, and Skin pathology will be supported for development.
All Specialist doctors are required to have a job plan outlining their main duties, responsibilities, and work programme, including a mix of fixed and flexible sessions.
The Trust aims to develop into a twenty-four-hour, seven-day service, which may involve extending working hours and weekend work, with job plans reflecting this.
Supporting Professional Activities include 1.5 PAs for activities supporting revalidation, such as appraisal, CPD, audit, and teaching. Additional discretionary SPAs may be available for leadership roles or other activities aligned with the Trust’s strategic objectives.

There is a planned service move anticipated during Autumn 2025, which may involve relocating this role and its base to Poole Hospital. Post relocation, travel allowances will be adjusted accordingly, with travel considered a commute. Other changes will be managed per Trust/National terms and conditions.
