The role: The Senior Planning Officer will: Apply expertise in operational and service planning to gather, analyse, and interpret complex data, ensuring access to intelligence and planning tools to support NHSGGC’s objectives, service improvement, and efficiency. Support colleagues in understanding planning tools and methodologies, provide advice on service planning, and ensure data accuracy, timeliness, and reliability for informed decision-making. Source, extract, and analyse data, identify trends, explain patterns, develop analytic models, and communicate insights effectively. Contribute to the development of local and Board-wide plans, including corporate, Directorate/Sector, and Delivery Plans, producing evidence-based reports with options and recommendations. Lead allocated projects and improvement workstreams, ensuring effective planning, management, and evaluation. Support the Board’s Transforming Together and The GGC Way Forward change programmes, providing operational planning and change management support. Assist in developing and implementing planning and performance reporting systems, including outcome measures, monitoring, and evaluation. Lead analysis and reporting of specific target areas as agreed. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern: Permanent, Full time JBR Gartnavel Shift Pattern - Monday - Friday 9am-5pm Interview date is 27th February Key responsibilities: Source, collate, and analyse complex activity data, producing evidence-based reports to support service planning and development. Communicate findings clearly through reports, presentations, and business cases, influencing staff at all levels. Provide planning and change management support to managers and Acute Division teams to develop integrated, robust service plans. Contribute to strategic and performance plans, including Annual Delivery and Winter Plans. Lead capacity and demand modelling, analysing divergences and providing actionable insights. Oversee delivery plans, ensuring alignment with NHSGGC priorities and highlighting risks or conflicts. Prepare performance reports, coordinating data collection, interpretation, and reporting. Conduct research, audits, data analysis, and performance reviews within agreed timelines. Provide specialist performance expertise to support service planning and improvement. Interpret and communicate regional and national policy relevance to services. Facilitate development sessions and meetings to engage partners in priorities and service improvements. Build collaborative relationships across teams, networks, and external partners to drive analysis and improvement initiatives. Manage allocated staff, including workload prioritisation, allocation, and capacity management. Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job: Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline with evidence of significant CPD and professional competence and expertise Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral) with the ability to influence both individuals and teams to implement change to best effect and establish productive relationships Ability and demonstrable experience in the drafting and presentation of papers, reports and related correspondence for associated Governance groups, Directors and senior managers Highly proficient in complex data analysis Ability to work under pressure, managing competing demands on time and within resource to deliver positive results Ability to plan and organise complex activities across a number of programmes or areas, and adjust plans or strategies accordingly Ability to demonstrate and communicate a practical and theoretical understanding of planning approaches and techniques Experience of project management demonstrated through the initiation, planning, and managing of projects Recent experience of working in the NHS, other public sector or relevant organisations within a relevant role associated with planning Successful track record in developing structures and systems to support the attainment of organisational goals through planning management methodologies Developed awareness of the political sensitivity of information and ability, and mental agility, to work through issues and take cognisance of the impact of the presentation of data and intelligence and its use within a planning framework Extensive knowledge of and competence in Microsoft Office 365 applications including; Outlook, SharePoint, Microsoft Project and Excel What we offer: We offer a wide range of supportive policies designed to enhance your employee journey, including a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme, Cycle to Work Scheme, bursary scheme and extensive learning and development opportunities.
