Role Overview
The Factory Manager will be a key leadership figure, responsible for managing all aspects of factory operations - from production planning and workflow coordination to staff supervision and quality assurance. Reporting to the Operations Director, this role is ideal for someone with a practical background in bench hand joinery, machinery operation, and factory team leadership, who also understands the strategic value of efficiency, communication, and lean manufacturing.
You will be the bridge between the back-office functions (sales, scheduling, logistics) and production operations, ensuring seamless coordination that supports growth, maximises output, and maintains our commitment to certified quality standards.

Required Experience & Skills
Essential:
* Proven experience as a joiner (preferably bench hand joiner), with strong practical woodworking skills and understanding of fire door construction.
* Experience operating and maintaining woodworking machinery
* Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a supervisory or factory management role
*Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage workflow, teams, and resources effectively.
* Excellent communication skills and a track record of working collaboratively across teams.
* Good working knowledge of health & safety regulations in a manufacturing environment.
Desirable:
* Experience in fire door manufacturing
* Practical knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and production efficiency techniques.
* Familiarity with production planning systems or ERP software.
* Experience working in a growing SME or scale-up manufacturing business.
