Morson is delighted to be working in partnership with a market leading Engineering organisation to recruit a Category Manager for an initial 6 month contract. There is a rate of £450-£550 Umbrella Per Day on offer for the successful candidate. The role would offer a hybrid working arrangement with 2 days a week onsite in Bristol and 3 days a week working from home.

- Support, advise and guide all colleagues involved in sustainable procurement activity;
- Support the Head of Sustainable Procurement with strategic projects and planning, deputising their absence and at other times Acting as advisor in relation to management decisions or other strategic matters involving the procurement department and processes;
- Transfer specialist knowledge from previous experience and provide support, mentoring and guidance to the Purchasing Assistants; Develop relationships with strategic providers and suppliers to maintain service delivery performance and maintain a working knowledge of changing market conditions.
ROLE PURPOSE:
-A strategic role which enables the organisation to categorise procurement resources to focus on specific areas of spends. The Category Manager focuses on conducting in depth business spend analysis to fully leverage their procurement decisions on behalf of the whole organisation. The role supports the category management strategy approach, which is the most strategic procurement model at present and much more developed than traditional transactional based purchasing methods.
- Support the Procurement vision by promoting and leading a cultural change across the organisation;
- In the absence of the Head of Sustainable Procurement, act as deputy in relation to all responsibilities, including managing the Procurement team;
- Be a leading member of the Procurement team working with stakeholders to promote the function and deliver procurement excellence across the organisation
- Managing challenging procurement categories and relationships, troubleshooting as required.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications/Experience
-Strong knowledge and experience of Public Sector Procurement Processes and the PCR2015 / understanding of Procurement Act 2023
- Substantial experience in a procurement role with proven experience as a Category Manager within Construction / Defence sector;
- Strong commercial skills with the ability to analyse and negotiate best value agreements.
